Kubrick'd

I highly recomend going and renting a bunch of stanley kubrick directed films. They are great creative inspiration. x

"This Is Why You Should Never Help Anyone, Other People Are Bastards!"-Hannah Baxter (Secret Diary Of A Call Girl)

The key is to get to know people and trust them to be who they are. Instead, we trust people to be who we want them to be- and when they're not, we cry.

I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you
  Friedrich Nietzsche

People who have given us their complete confidence believe that they have a right to ours. The inference is false, a gift confers no rights.

Beyonce: Trust is like a mirror, you can fix it if it is broken...
Lady Gaga: But you can still see the crack in the mother f***ing reflection

I feel like a lot of this is something I want to do a series of work on. Perhaps this will be an opportunity to do some more illustrations. I have started a series not really fully grasping what it was meant to become... I think now I know. I originally started out creating fashion influenced illustrations of characters of those who I feel have fallen short of what was expected. I have titled it: "The Beautiful Letdown" I think I have been able to add a few more characters to the list of illustrations...
I will add them as the project progresses...

I Need Fabric and Zippers!

Portfolio

http://www.dripbook.com/
it is a really awesome website for all kinds of genres of art! My references..

Where is Nemo

I am going to also have to find some sort of illustration. maybe i will do a projection of an image rather than a video. it will be less complicated. i can do an illustration of sorts to incoperate and project digitally and maybe just create sound since i didnt experiment enough with that before.

Silver Fish

Fish. Inspiration for concept and developing. really random though. maybe i will create a dress that has scales and looks fish like...

Installed

I have been thinking about what I am going to do for my instalation. i have a vague idea. something to do with goldfish and video.. and water and glass holding objects... this may be dificult. i may have to get rid of the fish idea and replace it with something else. fish can die. this is a problem...

If There Was A Type Of Animal That Is The Epitome Of Me It Would Be This...

I WANT ONE! NO, I NEED ONE!
This has to be the coolest animal I have ever seen. Red Pandas Included. I love its big eyes. They look like the most lovable creatures ever! The constant dear in the headlights look is priceless. Its the look I get when I get confused and feel panicked simultaneously!

This Must Be What Cloud People Wear...

I miss last years V&R line. It was soooo beautiful. sometimes I want to make prints of them and glue them to walls all over the city. More people should look at them. they are aesthetic genius.
I love this shade of pink, it makes me think of dance classes I used to take when I was five.

I think this may have been the thing that subconsciously inspired the head piece to that Athena shoot I did last year.
This is from my Greek series last year. Athena. Model: Anastasia Cresswell

Under Water, Things Are Beautiful

I love illustration. I love fashion illstration even more. James Hamilton Butler was one of the toutors I had in Uni in London last year. I was flipping through his online portfolio and then started to look at some of my personal favorites such as Kelly Smith http://www.birdyandme.com.au/ and many more. So I decided to flip through and find some favorites to share and reminde myself of the great illstration charactoristics.

The Length of Your Kilt Should Be No More Than Three Inches Above The Knee

In boarding school they would measure our kilts or tell us to unroll them. the cleaver ones always pinned their kilts. Whether it was out of spite towards the authority figures or just childishness, we would silently rebel.

I have found that over the years that as I age the hem line of my skirts, dresses, shorts ect, have become increasingly longer. Perhaps that is because I am paying more attention to fashion now than when I was when I was younger. Really I had no idea what fashion was at all. I just saw all the pretty women in the movies and wanted to be just like them. Now I find myself perusing the pages and pages of the satorialist and many other fashion blogs. Watching runway shows online from the comfort of my bedroom. I think that short must be done tastefully, not nessisarily intentionally. I think the less flesh you flash, the wiser. The more we display our goods the less there is left to the imagination, the less of a challange one would appear and the less you have to work with when it comes to creating this sense of good old fashioned allure.

This is half the reason I think love nowadays has been severely cheepend. There is no mystic, no suprise, no comprehensive enigma to unriddle or undress. Back in the day it was risque for a woman to expose even the slightest bit of flesh. So much as an ankle would send men flocking to where ever it was one might go to watch such a silly practice take place. Today it hardly comes as a shock when a stripper uses (as my ex boyfriend once put it) "physics defying practices to extract a dollar bill from between his friends teeth, with her vagina."  His profound words, not mine. There is nothing so beautiful as the small mundane gestures in my opinion. The things that are not all that obvious. The subtle things that one must read between the lines in order to recognize. You are what you make yourself worth, and as Belle De Jour once put it, "the more expensive you are, the less flesh you flash" this being said she was referring to being a prostitute and it was really Billie Piper playing Belle De Jour, so the actual authority on that is questionable, but I myself would have to agree. No need to put ones goods on blatant display. That is like walking round the dodgy part of town with a 22K diamond ring on your finger. It is just bad practice and policy. That being said I do sometimes wish that there had been a seminar on what your personal style says about yourself in grade school. It would have saved me a lot of time and horrible relationships (not specifically with any sort of romantic interests just with people in general).

In all honesty the main articles of clothing on my list of must haves at the moment are floor length skirts and dresses, along with a variety of dress pant styles.

There must be balance and dressing like a slag falls short of where the cut off lies.

There Is A Monster Under My Bed, That Wants To Come Out

Looking In
The curtain rod/ clothing rack on the left hand side is for clothing storage. In the top left hand corrner there are 3 different sized metal birdcages that are hung at different levels from the ceiling. There is a vintage fabric mannequin in the corner by the bird cages.  Black curtains for the window so sunlight will not wake me. The windowsill will contain many knickknacks and mason jars filled with marbles, candles, sand from the beach and shells, old photographs, plants ect. There will be a small bed side table with an small antique clock and just enough room for my cellphone and a small ceramic dish. My bed will have no frame and just lie flat on the floor (I like to be close to the ground). There will be a photogaph of some sorts above the head of my bed yet to be decided. On the right hand wall there will be a three photo series of portraits I will have done by then. They will be edited to look like Polaroids and then mounted on a larger square black or white backdrop and framed. These photos will be done in black and white or a washed out, desaturated colour filter. On the floor I would like to have a black or white carpet. (NOTE: NOT black AND white, But, black OR white)
Above where i am going to put the framed photos is going to be this quote: "There is beauty in anger, and anger for me is passion" -Alexander McQueen

                Looking Out
Looking from the other end of my room a continuation of the photographic series I will do, I will have a pair of gold antlers (small) to hang my necklaces and delicate bracelets on. I also plan to have two more small bird cages handing from the opposite corners of my ceiling. I will have a dressing table with one main mirror and two side mirrors that are able to swing open and closed. The frames of these mirrors will allow me to stick old photographs and postcards ect. in between the mirror and the frame. The dressing table will have two large drawers (for my makeup and other cosmetic related things) and a long smaller one in the middle (for my makeup brushes). On the Dressing table I will have a jewelry/music box, a antique dressing table set (hairbrush, mirror, comb) on a metal platter/dish of sorts. I will have two sets of hands, one wooden one and the palm reading one from urban outfitters with a small picture frame of a vintage photograph, this will be placed in the left hand corner of the mirror. In the right hand corner of the mirror there will be a ceramic head from Urban Outfitters (it has a map of the parts of the human brain on it) as well as an old vintage perfume bottle and another one of my actual bottles, perhaps one of Jean Paul Gautier's perfumes because I think the bodes shaped bottle will go well with the theme. In the front corner of the dressing table I would like to have a glass case with a dried or metal rose inside of it like beauty and the beast. It is one of my favorite childhood films filled with fantasy and I feel it would be a perfect touch to the room. Perhaps if i can not find one I could commission Ted Jolda to make one for me, but I should be able to find one. Also a small china teacup and saucer will always sit on my dressing table. This not only references the tea set from beauty and the beast, but also references my time spent in the UK, and the many tea parties my little sister and I would have as children. Above the Door I think I would like to have a old looking yellow/sepia tone map of the world, I am not sure whether I would want to frame it first or just pin it up there. On the right hand side of the room I would like to have a three prong hook for my purses and bags and coats and such. In the right hand corner of the room I would like an old vintage trunk, similar to the one we have down stairs for dress up but perhaps in better shape and maybe in black or white instead of dark blue. Above the trunk I would like to have a shelf for books and magazines. The trunk will store whatever other magazines, books and clothing I can not fit.

Here are some inspirational images for the decorations

I WANT ONE OR TWO LIKE THIS
(will most likely find them at an art shop. will use them for my rings and bracelets. this is a perfect setup for the two on the right, i would however like to replace the large one on the left with the ceramic palm reading one from urban outfitters)

I AM COMPLEATLY OBSESSED WITH THE IDEA OF BIRD CAGES!
(i plan to fill them with different things such as one filled with candles, one filled with dried flowers, one filled with tea stained aged letters and envelopes)
this is what i meant by hanging the bird cages at different levels in a cluster
it would be cool to get a pair of these antique bonoculars to have on my windowsill or dressing table
I WANT A MATCHING CERAMIC GUN AND PERFUME BOTTLE
(preferebly i would want the gun to be a antique looking pistol revolver sort of gun, but i would settle for a hand gun i guess) BUT THE PERFUME BOTTLE IS A MUST. (i want a sphere one though)

I NEED IT!

i will collect interesting glass bottles and put interesting little things, will deffo have a few bottles inspired by alice in wonderland that have old tags on them that say drink me!

I NEED THIS SORT OF BIRD CAGE
(though i would prefer to have it this colour of gold metal or maybe even a little bit more tarnished and old looking)

I like how this one has little ceramic food and water dishes in it. though i like the shape of this one the colour is disgusting.
this ring is awesome. i want it. thats not really important but i love it.

this is exactly what i meant by knickknacks

these are great shapes for bird cages but i wold prefer them in a gold-ish colour.

this is exactly what i want to do with one of the bird cages, i want to be able to fill them with candles, most likely the fake flickering wax candles that my little sister got for Christmas from family friends of ours. (i have to admit was jealous for a moment or two, until i got tickets to the flames vs habs hockey game in Montreal for me and my friend)
i want to also fill a bird cage that looks like this more or less with beige/white, tea stained (to make them look old) envelopes. i think i will get my friends to write me letters of their favorite memories and send them to me so i can have something with actual meaning to put in the bird cage. i will do the tea staining myself...

this is what i want to do with mason jars, put different sized candles in them. but i also think that i would like to put sand and shells and other things inside of them with the candles.
such as this, but probs not moss. i dont really care for the aesthetic of this example specifically but it is an example none the less.

I WOULD SELL MY SISTER TO THE ITALIAN MOFIA FOR THESE TWO BIRD CAGES! THEY ARE THE EPITOME OF PERFECT!

I think i really like this idea. however i would rather put dried flowers in the jars instead of live, fresh ones, and maybe fill it with sand and flowers as well or something like that...
this is the style influence for the antique dressing table set. these are just a bunch of mirrors but i do want a brush and a comb to go with it.

I want an old school camera like this for my windowsill as well

I could totally live without this egg nail manicure kit thing, maybe a prettier version of it, but i like the concept and idea. i am just not crazy about this one, the copper makes it look dirty too. the colour just makes me associate it with not so nice things. i dont know why.

beauty and the beast. i think i will just add a dried out rose...
this will be the sort of plants i keep... MOSS with knickknacks in it as well...
I NEED A HEAD LIKE THIS! ITS SOOOO COOL! i will get one from urban outfitters
and this one for my rings from urban outfitters

At Times Like These...

I have started drawing up plans for my new bedroom. Now all I have to do is find refrence pictures, and scan in the illustrations of the set up. This is going to be fun...

It Will Be My Video Library 2.0 ...

THEY HAVE THE MALE AND FEMALE VERSION OF THE PERFUME ADD! I posted the previous one in my last post of video library. but this makes me so happy. how Brilliant. killing two birds with one stone. Whether it was the company being cheap or lazy or just economically savvy I think it worked out rather well.
This makes me want to go to a party that is themed EYES WIDE SHUT. Minus the crazy cults and prostitutes. This is beautiful and makes me think I should try and organize a mascaraed at a club for a charity fundraiser or something.
Masked Monday? I dunno but I will do something... Just Wait!

And Then There Is Marc... Dear Lord, What will he think of next. That is a horrible add campaign. But it did remind me that some girl once told me she pulled Marc Jacobs at a Vice Magazine Party in London. I almost pissed myself laughing i don't think she knew Marc Jacobs is gay. That and I highly doubt he would have made out with her anyways, it is Marc Jacobs after all...
And Chanel For The Win

It Will Be My Video Library...

I LOVE THE COLOURS! AND THE SLOW MOTION OF IT ALL!
Beautiful.
Perfume ads can be brilliant. Love the composition, sound, Colour Filter! and everything about it, though it seems a bit like she is having sex with a bouquet of roses...
Just Watching This Add Makes Me Want To Buy The Perfume. I Totally Will Just For My Dressing Table At Home. There Is Something About Gautier And How The Adds Always Have The Most Beautiful Lingerie That Make Me Want To Be Naked And Lounge In Bed All Day With A Male Model. Just The Imagery Of Having A Corset Laced Up, Clipping A Garter Belt To A Stocking, Rolling A Stocking Up Ones Thigh, Simple Yet Drop Dead Sexy Gestures Like That Always Send Me Into A Fit Of Day Dreams.
This is how models should also compose them selves in photo shoots. DONT BE AFRAID TO TAKE RISKS. IT DOESNT MATTER IF IT LOOKS STUPID! ITS EXPERIMENTAL. AND FOR THE MOST PART DIGITAL. IF I FIND SOMETHING I REALLY DO LOVE THEN I MIGHT SHOOT IT IN FILM!

Watch With Earphones

It is dark but sometime beautiful things are dark. it has a balance between dirty and clean cut but has really evil undertones.

On A Lighter Note
this is beautiful in a very simple way. i love how she speaks in Chinese but he speaks back in English. there is an understanding but a lack of it as well in regards to how she  cant swim.

This is also dark but amazing.
It is G.P. what else can you expect but beauty.

Shoes, I Love You

These are my fantasy shoes.

Christian Louboutin
The Trade Mark Red Soles and the Platform Sued Pump can really not be done better. I also love the Metal Heel. I have a tendency to tear mine up so when I can opt for metal I always will. It tends to be a bit more durable.
Alexander McQueen
The King Of Fashion, Style and Detail. His work is flawless and elegant. I love how these pumps are reminiscent of butterflies and how he put a solid colour bottom on them following CL's style. They are amazing.

More Alexander McQueen
His work is just so creative and artistic where as Christian Louboutin is more of the beautiful classical elements of shoes. These allude to ballet point shoes with a metal, mechanical looking heel. I think it is Brilliant. Natily Portman Should Own a Pair of These...
These are just a few more examples of McQueens Creative Conquests in the world of foot wear. He also can rock the vintage shoe quite well.
prime example. I am in love, I wold for sure sell my sister to a traveling circus for a pair of these!
McQueen also does fantastic retro influenced shoes with a modern twist sometimes.

These look like heaven for your feet. the leather looks so comfortable. If I must wear a retro shoe. LET IT BE THIS!

Marc Jacobs has always been a bit out there, some of his shoes are rather kitch, some would seem physics defying and some would appear rather structurally impressive but a bit of an eye sore. but when he sticks to the KISS principal (keep it simple stupid!) he can make fantastic everyday footwear...
i like the detailing. this with a skirt. dress. whatever. it just needs black tights. and perhaps a long sleeve blue blue blue dress to go with it.

I refuse to acknowledge Chanel when it comes to shoes. Its tacky, its branded, its quilted and just hideous. I am sure they have the occasional god send of shoe but never a consistency worth pursuing. Though I admit the clothes are absolutely lovely.

Jimmy Choo Used to be a force to be reckoned with in the shoe world but now I feel that it has sold out. Their shoes are something anyone could find the equivalent to at an Aldo for less, and that makes me a bit sad inside.

In regards to Boots. Hermes All The Way.
They have gorgeous riding boots I drool over whenever I walk into their boutique in Holts.

Sandals can be done by any one. i like mine delicate, strappy and with neutral colours for the most part. If it is gonna be bold I rather it be one small accented detail not the entire freaking shoe. and enough with theses obnoxious colours that I constantly see. greyed off bright purples and tacky teal shoes. it makes me sick. the only sandals I own that are bright coloured are my canary yellow Birks and that is because when they are Birks you CAN get away with obnoxious colours. Cuz they are usually paired with shorts and something rather neutral. They tend to be the accent of the entire outfit.

That being said I must stop. the idea of ugly colored footwear makes me too angry ...

till next time,
x

Female Forms

Found a beautiful photograph series of the female form the other day. I love the layers to it and the soft back lighting. It seems natural and organic in a way. i would love a series of something similar to this in black and whit or a faded colour like this maybe for the walls of my room. I would format them like the last two. like large Polaroids or perhaps keep them the actual size of Polaroids. I could do them as self portraits..... hmmmm. Better get on the treadmill and do some serious amounts of crunches then....
